As a former senior prosecutor for Los Angeles County, R.J. Dreiling handled high-profile cases involving murder, fraud, conspiracy and kidnapping. As a defense attorney, R.J. Dreiling has helped everyone from Hollywood actors to CEOs. Throughout his entire legal career, Mr. Dreiling has focused exclusively on criminal law, including as a clerk in law school, fifteen years as a prosecutor in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and now as a criminal defense attorney. He has been repeatedly invited to give lectures on the criminal justice system for universities, government agencies, and nonprofits all over the county.

During his time in the DA’s office, he worked closely with hundreds of other prosecutors, police officers and judges. He attained invaluable experience regarding every facet of the criminal justice system, including filing charges, preparing a case, and going to trial. He handled and negotiated thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies and high-level fraud cases. He tried over 70 cases to verdict, including DUIs, felony assault, gun and drug cases, and cold case murders. He also served in specialized units that focused on domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and white-collar crimes.

R.J. Dreiling's success in the courtroom led to him being assigned many high-profile cases. His expertise on the law earned him the responsibility of training new and veteran prosecutors on trial preparation and tactics. He also represented the District Attorney’s Office in regional policy discussions and was instrumental in the implementation of new office policy on juvenile justice.

R.J. Dreiling has lived in Southern California his entire adult life. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While at Loyola Law School, successfully earned a place on the Scott Moot Court Honors Board and received Dean’s List Honors for academic excellence.
